Project Overview:

Murimi

Murimi is a virtual reality (VR) educational game designed to teach young people about aquaponics and sustainable farming through immersive storytelling and interactive gameplay. Grounded in Kolb’s Experiential Learning Theory (KELT), the game engages users in building and maintaining an aquaponics system while navigating real-world challenges inspired by the El-Nino induced climate issues.
My Role: UX Researcher, Game Designer & Developer

Key results:

Successfully piloted with 12 participants aged 18–30; 11 completed Level 1, and 6 completed Level 2 despite VR unfamiliarity.

Achieved high engagement and immersion, with users describing the experience as “fun,” “beautiful,” and “a great alternative to traditional education”.

Successfully aligned VR game mechanics with Kolb's Experiential Learning Theory (KELT), demonstrating a grounded approach to educational design.
